Chemco’s Epoxy Potable Water Coating System is made up of two ground-breaking epoxies. A solvent-free, wet & rust tolerant primer Epo-chem™ RS 500P. Finished off with a solvent-free, wet tolerant, glass-flake epoxy topcoat Epo-chem™ RA 500M. A ceramic system is also available using solvent free Ceram-chem™ RP 500. This system offers a smooth like finish and is extremely hard wearing
They have been tested and approved by NATA (AS 4020:2005), FDA and NSF. The primer is a solvent free, wet and rust tolerant primer. The top coat is also solvent free, wet tolerant and glass flake reinforced. Utilising this technology the surface can be prepared by abrasive blasting, water jetting or mechanical cleaning. Being a solvent free and wet tolerant coating, it is perfectly suited for tank linings in confined spaces. This means there is no need for dehumidification or additional ventilation. Chemco Vinylester Potable Water Coating System Is made up of a glass-flake vinylester. 100% volume solids vinylester Chem-tect™ RB 300 is suitable for operating at high temperatures. Water Ballast Tanks (WBT) Coatings
Water Ballast Tanks (WBT) represent the single largest surface area on any ship. They are also areas of complex geometrical surfaces. Normally with permanent condensation and difficult to reach confined spaces. Chemco have a unique coating system for WBT’s. It consists of a solvent-free, wet & rust tolerant primer Epo-chem™ RS 500P and solvent-free, wet tolerant, glassflake epoxy topcoat Epo-chem™ RA 500M. This system is used world wide for new builds, refurbishment and repairs.
Don’t take our word for it though. Chemco’s solvent-free, wet & rust tolerant WBT coating system has passed independent tests for IMO Resolution MSC.215(82) for application in sea water ballast tanks on bare steel and shop primed steel. But even more appealing it has passed the same tests on wet & rusty substrates.
These areas normally suffer high levels of condensation and have difficult access. Quite often de-humidification is required, Chemco have a solution that does not require abrasive blasting. Most coating systems require abrasive blasting as the surface preparation. This presents a variety of challenges with dust, wasted abrasive removal and general health and safety. The surface preparation could be ultra high pressure water blasting, reducing many hazards and speeds up the process. Being a truly moisture tolerant epoxy it can be applied on wet and rusty surfaces, in dry dock or even at sea.
